There was a curious error when Junior Messias came off the Milan bench against Udinese, as his name was written wrong on his jersey.

The Brazilian is having only his second Serie A season, having spent much of his career in the lower leagues and until a few years ago still delivering washing machines to make ends meet.

So it’s perhaps not too surprising that he’s not yet a household name, but the man who scored their Champions League winner away to Atletico Madrid probably ought to be recognised within his own locker room.

When he came off the bench as a substitute against Udinese at the Dacia Arena this evening, Messias had ‘Meessias’ written on the back of his jersey.

The 30-year-old was signed on loan from Crotone for €2.6m over the summer, with an option to buy for a further €5.4m at the end of the season.

He has contributed three goals in seven competitive games for the Rossoneri between Serie A and the Champions League.

  1. Comical error.

Sorry but a world class team (which Milan should always be) cannot be making such mistakes. I’m not a Milan fan and I am not trying to antagonize here but at this level, this shouldn’t happen.

  2. Pls messias should go and sit down…we don’t have a second team that can compete for the scudetti…bakayoko n messias both of them should leave after the season

  3. cant spell MESSIAS without MESSI.
Milan have been on downward slope since 2010. its now reached the kit manager and locker room staff.
last 2 years have had a slight upticks but i can see them continue to slide back down further unless some kind of miracles happens.

  4. Inter must be laughing their butts off. Hakan having the last laugh. I am 100% sure that they will win tmrw and you cannot win the league losing or drawing these type of games. Inter rarely slip up and Napoli do not have the squad to go the distance. The same for Atalanta.

  5. Up and down performance of a big club like ac milan is a normal circle. But finally they coukd manage themselve for scudetto this season.

  6. This is football anything can still happen I hope acmilan going to will scuddetto but you need to give meessias

  7. @who me- You can see them sliding down because that is what you wanna see when you are thinking and reasoning with your toes.

Playing the CL first time in 8 years and with the squad as young as they have you should expect situation like this if you are reasoning with your brain.

Inter can afford 50-70M players, even though their debt is over the roof and their future is still crowdy, but the most expensive player Milan can afford is not more than 20M or even less. Milan has lost and draw 3-4 winnable matches and still they are still on top of the league and they dont even have the type of player Juve, Inter and Napoli have.

Milan has been in the position they are for 2 years, but what horse race fans would see is them sliding down. With way bill of Inter, Milan shoudnt be anywhere near them on the table.

  8. @ralph dude your blaming Inter for Milan still being a mere shadow of what it once was. its not what i wanna see, its what the world sees, and the truth idiot. your still in denial.
far as youth they had some of the great youth talent but sold them off, or mis used them or left them on bench and stopped them from growing. the shirt still holds weight but no where like before. theyll never get any big name players to sign in their prime again.
