The Brazilian joined the Eagles from Queens Park Rangers three years ago and enjoyed No 1 status until last term, when he was displaced by Ederson – now at Manchester City.

He failed to win back his place for Benfica and played just four times in 2017-18 prior to his exit, having dropped to third choice.

Julio Cesar is best known for his seven-year spell with Inter between 2005 and 2012, where he made 300 appearances and won five Scudetti, as well as the Champions League.

He also picked up 87 caps for Brazil, with whom he celebrated a Copa America success and two Confederations Cups.
