Many felt Napoli deserved to beat Roma on Sunday, but while Juan Jesus accepted the Partenopei ‘had all the ball’ at the San Paolo, he argued their possession was sterile.

“Did Roma suffer too much? In the second half, yes, but in the first half we showed character and played very well,” the defender said after the 1-1 draw.

“We had to do the same in the second half. Did Napoli run more? I’m not a fitness expert, but everyone has the same jobs.

“The important thing is to do what we have to do, which is our work. I don’t think it’s an issue of preparation. We ran well.

“De Rossi is a different player to Cristante, but it’s up to the Coach to choose a formation and those who came in did well.

“Draw needed to start over? We can’t be happy with it. Napoli played well and also did so in Paris. We must always do better.

“We suffered and Napoli had all the ball, but we defended well and Napoli didn’t make any clear-cut chances. We troubled them in the first half.”
