Juan Jesus appeared to continue the racism row with Francesco Acerbi by alluding to what he ‘thought was right’ following Napoli’s tense draw with Inter.

Pressure was high at San Siro on Sunday night when Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri hosted the defending champions, and one player who was clearly feeling the heat was Acerbi, who was arguing with Giacomo Raspadori and Juan Jesus throughout the match.

In the closing stages of the match, Juan Jesus was seen talking to referee Federico La Penna and pointing to the Keep Racism Out badge on his shirt, claiming that Acerbi ‘had called me a n***o’. He later told DAZN that ‘what happens on the pitch, stays on the pitch’, seemingly keen to move on.

Juan Jesus took to Instagram after the match to reflect on the incident, posting some photos from the match including his conversation with La Penna alongside the caption: “I defended my team and my rights in the way I thought was right. Happy for the goal and for the team’s reaction.”

Should action be taken against Acerbi, he would be at risk of being handed a 10-match ban under Article 28 of the Code of Sports Justice.
