Luka Jovic had another opportunity to impress Stefano Pioli and Milan, but his poor performance against Fiorentina showed why the club need a new centre forward.

The 25-year-old Serbian striker joined the Rossoneri from Fiorentina in the summer on a free transfer, penning a one-year contract with an option for a second. He was a last-minute addition to the squad, arriving on transfer deadline day after the talks for Porto’s Mehdi Taremi collapsed.

Olivier Giroud’s suspension and Noah Okafor’s injury meant Pioli had no choice but to start Jovic in Milan’s clash with Fiorentina, giving the Serbian striker another chance to show his best after a lacklustre start to the season.

As noted by La Gazzetta dello Sport via TMW, Jovic wasted another chance to shine for Milan, with his greatest contribution against Fiorentina being the through-ball that led to the foul on Theo Hernandez in the penalty area.

The Serb came off for 15-year-old talent Francesco Camarda in the 83rd minute and again disappointed Pioli, having failed to produce much of note.
