Stevan Jovetic is closer to joining Inter on loan with option to buy for €18m from Manchester City.

The links between Jovetic and Roberto Mancini’s side have been circulating for many weeks and are gathering steam.

According to Sky Sport Italia, there were ‘positive’ talks between the forward’s agent and Nerazzurri representatives on Friday.

The negotiations with Manchester City continue, but are based around a loan with option to buy for somewhere between €15m and €18m.

City would prefer the option to be a mandatory one, so Inter would essentially sign Jovetic and pay the sum a year later.

The Montenegro international is eager for a return to Serie A after struggling to settle in the Premier League, having previously impressed for Fiorentina.

He was furious with the club after it cut him from their Champions League squad in January.
