Il Corriere dello Sport warns Daniele De Rossi that Roma‘s season ‘will change’ after a 0-0 draw against strugglers Lecce on Monday.

The Giallorossi were held to a 0-0 draw by Lecce at the Stadio Via Del Mare on Monday, allowing Bologna to stretch their lead in fourth place. Thiago Motta’s side are now five points above Roma in the Serie A table.

“Roma’s season will surely change from now on,” wrote journalist Marco Evangelisti on Il Corriere dello Sport on Tuesday.

“Roma were running as fast as a train, but they will soon see from the windows Lazio, Udinese away, Bologna, Napoli, Juventus and Atalanta, not to mention Europa League games with Milan.”

Evangelisti continued by saying that Roma don’t have many “certainties” and that a relatively easy fixture list helped the Giallorossi to adapt to a new coach after Mourinho’s sacking in January.

“De Rossi even tried to coach Roma as a top side. Keep the adrenaline low in the first half, and try to make the most of Lecce’s drop in intensity in the second half. However, his team is not mature or big enough to change pace convincingly. Plus, the struggles in midfield and defence are not a good starting point considering their upcoming tasks. Leao won’t hesitate as Piccoli did. Koopmeiners won’t miss it like Dorgu.”

The journalist wrote that after De Rossi’s convincing start in Serie A and Europa League, Leandro Paredes and Angeliño started being inconsistent again, Lukaku failed to show the “strength that makes him irreplaceable in our league” while Tommaso Baldanzi “keeps making promises he is unable to keep.”

Only Mile Svilar has been delivering convincing performances steadily during De Rossi’s reign, according to Evangelisti.

De Rossi has nine victories, three draws and two defeats in 14 games as Roma’s head coach. The final part of the season will be highly demanding for the Giallorossi who will face direct rivals Atalanta, Napoli, Juventus, Milan and Lazio in Serie A.

The meeting with their city rivals will take place this coming Saturday, before the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals with Milan at San Siro.
