La Repubblica reports Mike Maignan tried to ‘shake Rafael Leao up’ in the second half of Inter-Milan, by running towards the Portuguese striker from the opposite side of the pitch.
Leao made a quick recovery from an adductor injury but wasn’t fully fit for a second-leg Champions League semifinal between Milan and Inter at San Siro on Tuesday which saw the Nerazzurri secure a 1-0 win to qualify for their first Final in 13 years.
Leao was nullified by Simone Inzaghi’s defenders throughout the game, but wasted a goal-scoring opportunity in the first half but.
Repubblica’s correspondent at San Siro Emanuele Gamba says Maignan tried to ‘shake his teammate up’ at minute 18 in the second half. The ball was not in play, so the French keeper ran to the opposite side of the pitch to revitalize Leao.
However, it didn’t entirely produce the reaction Maignan hoped. The goalkeeper’s screams ‘shook Leao’ wrote Gamba, although the 23-year-old ‘was still unable to move from the left flank where he looked like a prisoner.’
Even Junior Messias reproached Leao at some point in the second half even if, at the end of the day, ‘all Milan players looked similar to their teammate.’
