Jorginho’s future at Chelsea is currently shrouded in doubt following the announcement that Roman Abramhovic is selling the club.

The Russian oligarch has put the Blues up for sale, hoping to secure around €3.3b for the club. A number of businessman are interested including a consortium led by Swiss tycoon Hanjoerg Wiss and American Todd Boehly. The situation has left the players feeling incredibly anxious, even if coach Thomas Tuchel has confirmed he’ll be staying in West London.

Jorginho’s contract with Chelsea expires in the summer of 2023, meaning that it’s likely the West London club will look to sell him in the upcoming summer transfer window in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer. Whilst they could offer him a new deal, it seems unlikely at this stage.

The situation has thrown the futures of Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger into doubt as their contracts expire at the end of this season, leaving them in limbo alongside the Italian-Brazilian following this news.
