La Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Corriere dello Sport claim Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri wants to reunite with Arsenal’s Jorginho, but the Biancocelesti must work on the midfielder’s salary.

The Italy international moved to the Emirates Stadium from Chelsea in January for €13.5m, but both papers claim on Thursday that the Gunners are ready to discuss his sale over the summer.

According to Gazzetta, Arsenal may agree to sell the Italy international for a fee similar to the one invested six months ago to purchase him from Stamford Bridge.

However, even in this case, Lazio would need to work on Jorginho’s wages given that his current €6.5m salary at Arsenal is unaffordable for the Biancocelesti.

Gazzetta claims that Lazio won’t offer more than €4m per season, so they’ll need to offer Jorginho a long-term deal to persuade him to reunite with Sarri.

Il Corriere dello Sport (page 20) claims Lazio would offer Jorginho a three or four-year deal, but negotiations with the player’s entourage and between the two clubs have not started yet.

Jorginho played under Sarri at Napoli and Chelsea, scoring six goals in 162 appearances. The Italian midfielder has one year left in his contract with Arsenal, but the Gunners have an option to extend his stay for a further campaign.
