Chelsea and Italy playmaker Jorginho reveals he wanted to quit football and believes it’s ‘good to know’ Manchester City ahead of the Champions League Final.

The Italy international will start in Chelsea’s midfield in tonight’s Champions League Final against Manchester City.

“The closer we get, the more we feel and it’s lovely. We are motivated,” the former Verona and Napoli star told Sky Sport Italia.

“It wasn’t an easy campaign, but I think we deserve to be here. We’ve worked a lot, we’ve always believed in it, and I think this group of players deserves to live this moment.”

Is it good or bad to know their opponents so well?

“I think it’s better to know them, we already played many times against Manchester City, but the same goes for them. We are talking about Manchester City, one of the best teams in the world.

“It’s going to be a tough game, we’ll try to give our best to lift the cup. It will be a challenging game, we’ll have to run a lot.”

Does he ever think about how he got to the Champions League Final?

“Many times. I think about my past, especially when we get to these games. I think about everything I’ve gone through during my life and my career.

“My hometown in Brazil, my family, everything. It’s like watching the movie of your life, you remember everything and it’s incredible.

“I remember I wanted to quit when I was 17, but my mother and my dad didn’t let me do it. I am proud of what they did, I can only thank them.”
