Jorginho with the trophy

According to reports in Italy, Jorginho will be named best Champions League midfielder for 2020-21 while Chelsea are preparing an offer to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

The Italy international won the Champions League with the Blues in May, before becoming champions of Europe with his national team too.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the former Napoli and Hellas Verona midfielder will be named best Champions League midfielder for the 2020-21 campaign ahead of his teammate N’golo Kante and Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne.

It will be announced ahead of the Champions League draw tomorrow.

This could boost Jorginho’s hopes to win the Ballon d’Or at the end of the year, given that he was the only player to win the most important trophies at a continental level.

The 29-year-old joined Chelsea in a €57m move from Napoli in 2018.

His contract expires in June 2023, but the Blues will soon begin talks to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Jorginho is one of the players on the Blues’ list along with Antonio Rüdiger, Andreas Christensen, N’Golo Kanté.
