Italy international Jorginho keeps his place in the Arsenal starting line-up for Tuesday night’s Champions League quarter-final first leg at the Emirates against Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

The experienced former Napoli and Chelsea holding midfielder has featured in seven out of eight of Arsenal’s Champions League matches so far in 2023-24, only being left on the bench for the second group stage match of the campaign, against Lens at the beginning of October.

He has started in four of Arsenal’s eight UCL games so far this season and has managed 90 minutes on three occasions, twice against Sevilla and once against PSV, all in the groups.

During Tuesday’s blockbuster clash against Bayern, Jorginho will accompany England international Declan Rice and captain Martin Odegaard in the Arsenal midfield.

It will be the first time that Arsenal and Bayern have faced each other in a competitive fixture since 2017, when the Bavarians recorded an emphatic 10-2 aggregate victory in the Champions League round of 16, which consisted of two consecutive 5-1 wins.

Jorginho, meanwhile, has only faced Bayern once in his career, which also came in the Champions League while he was still with Chelsea in 2019-20. That game ended in a 3-0 win for Bayern.

Kick-off this evening is set for 20.00 BST.
