Jorginho has failed to convert a penalty for Italy in normal time, ending his perfect record, but it’s his second error in a row considering the UEFA EURO 2020 shoot-out against England.

The Chelsea midfielder stepped up during this evening’s World Cup qualifier against Switzerland in Basel and saw his frankly weak and central effort saved by Yann Sommer.

Until that point, Jorginho had successfully converted all five penalties taken for the Nazionale in regular time.

However, considering his error during the Final shoot-out against England at Wembley Stadium, this represents the second consecutive failure for the midfielder.

Then too, he had the penalty parried by the goalkeeper, in that case Jordan Pickford.

It proved irrelevant, as Gianluigi Donnarumma then saved from Bukayo Saka and Italy were able to win the tournament.

Switzerland goalkeeper Sommer, however, has now parried 20 penalties during his career and is clearly an expert in the field.

He was also decisive for his country during EURO 2020, when they eliminated France in a shoot-out.

  1. I wonder how this guy scores penalties.. He’s the worst pk taker I’ve ever seen, his effort is always weak

  2. tHeY hAvE fIgUrEd hIm oUt.

Yeah totally, thats why Mancini makes the decisions not internet geniuses

  3. The reactionary takes here are ridiculous. He has scored more than 30 penalties in his career, due to his excellent technique and if he falters once or twice its over for him? Dumbasses

  4. The opposition have figured his penalty taking skills. He tries to hop before the kick and send the GK the wrong way. However, if he does not send the GK the wrong way, his penalties are very weak so they are very easily saved. High risk strategy that has stopped working. He needs to take more conventional penalties now. Its such a waste to hit weak penalties like that. Its great if they work but very wasteful when they don’t. Too high risk strategy that looks foolish when it does not come off.

  5. well hes missed 2 in a row. and the last one was for the euro trophy. if not for Donnarumma italy may had thrown it all away. this pk was very important too. 3 points could of sealed their place at world cup next year.
i think the next pk should be taken by one of the strikers or Bonucci.

  6. No way they winning this group now . If they had at least beaten Bulgaria this Result wouldn’t have been that bad but no way the Swiss drops points against others teams in this group

  7. even the great maradona and pele missed penalty. no player in the world has 100% rate penalty kick.
people above me who said jorginho worst PK ever, is stupid and no idea about football

  8. Fabio, I am afraid Canada32kid is right. They have sussed Jorginho out. He is a great player but he does need to alternate the way he takes penalties. Tommy, you shouldn’t be presumptuous that we have already failed. Look what happened to England, they thought it was in the Bag when everything was in their favour and Italy deserved to win and if anything England were pretty lucky they didn’t lose the game. We played the best football. Bulgaria drew thanks to the brilliant performance of their keeper. He was absolutely brilliant as Sommer was last night. These kind of things do happen in football. If we cannot win the group, then we need to win at the play offs and if we do not, then we do not deserve to go there but until it is not completed, we should all support our Nazionale. Well I do whatever happens. I am proud of them. My children only 27 and 23 have seen 4 finals with 1 World Cup and 1 European Cup (I have seen 8 finals = 2 World Cups and 2 European Cups). They have made me proud so always Forza Azzurri.

  9. Berardi, Bonucci and even the poor Immobile are all good penalty takers. Why risk more with his hop strategy ehich is now failing him

  10. But y’all should remember he scored for chelsea against Villareal in the shootout after losing against England
