Jorginho, who was close to a move to Manchester City before joining Chelsea in 2018, revealed that he still dreams of playing under Pep Guardiola.

The 30-year-old Italian-Brazilian is one of the most important players in Thomas Tuchel’s squad in West London, but he could be sold in the upcoming summer transfer window, as his contract expires with the club in June 2023. No decision yet has been made regarding a possible renewal for the Euro 2020 winner.

Speaking to Alê Oliveira, Jorginho first discussed how his move to Chelsea came about in 2018.

“I wasn’t supposed to come to Chelsea. I was supposed to have arrived at another club. Another English club.

“And then it happened as it happened and I arrived at Chelsea. So with Chelsea everything happened very fast. When I saw their offer, I was already in London and I said ‘let’s go’.”

When asked if he still has some dreams of playing under Pep Guardiola, the Brazilian-Italian midfielder was clear.

“I have. I don’t know if it will happen. But yeah, he’s a reference. When I was a kid, I watched his Barcelona win everything with Ronaldinho, Xavi, Iniesta.”

Jorginho has made 31 appearances across all competitions this season for Chelsea, for a total of 2373 minutes. In that time, he’s scored nine goals and provided one assist. He has won a number of honours with the Blues, including a Champions League, Europa League, Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup.
