Chelsea and Italy midfielder Jorginho revealed he has ‘several goals to fight for’ but stressed he’s only focused on the match against Juventus in the Champions League.

The Brazilian-born playmaker returns to play against an Italian side for the first time since joining Chelsea in 2018 and spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport about an eventful year.

Jorginho won the European Championship, the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup in 2021 and the Men’s Best Player of the Year is also in the running for the Ballon d’Or.

Jorginho: ‘They said I was only at Chelsea because of Sarri’

“I still have several trophies to fight for this year,” Jorginho told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “The Nations League with Italy and the Club World Cup with Chelsea.

“It has been an extraordinary year and I’m enjoying this moment. Already being considered a genuine candidate for the Ballon d’Or makes me proud. Well, if that happens it would be great, be we’re in the field of hypotheses.

“If it happens, I will think of all the good things a prestigious award like this can give you. Now, I want to keep focused: play and try to win, with Chelsea and Italy.”

The central midfielder will face Juventus in the Champions League tomorrow, the second round in Group H.

The former Napoli midfielder plays against an Italian team for the first time since moving to the Premier League.

“They are a great team that has a great history,” Jorginho added. “Juve are strong, they must be faced with the utmost respect and with total concentration.
