Italy and Chelsea midfielder Jorginho was named UEFA Champions League 2020-21 Player of the Year, after winning the competition last term.

The Azzurri star helped Italy pick up the European Championship after his success with Chelsea and was deservedly named the best player of last season in the UEFA competitions.

The former Napoli midfielder moved to Chelsea when Maurizio Sarri joined the Londoners and has stayed at the club since. He won the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup with the Blues and, in July, he was a key member of the Azzurri side that beat England on penalties in the EURO 2002 Final at Wembley.

Best Goalkeeper of the Year: Edouard Mendy (Chelsea)
Best Defender of the Year: Ruben Dias (Manchester City)
Best Midfielder of the Year: N’Golo Kante (Chelsea)
Best Attacker of the Year: Erling Braut Haaland (Borussia Dortmund)

  1. How does De Bruyne (no continental trophies & no international trophies) get a nomination but Donnarumma doesn’t? European championships player of the tournament doesn’t get a nomination, but De Bruyne does. Typical anti Italian bias by UEFA as per usual. If Jorginho wasn’t Brazilian born, he wouldn’t have been nominated either.
