Jorginho refuses to discuss penalty technique: ‘Leave me alone…’

Jorginho scored a brace from the spot helping Chelsea secure a 3-2 win over Leeds United, but refused to discuss his penalty technique: ‘Leave me alone about this…’

Only a few weeks ago, the former Napoli midfielder was under fire in Italy for missing two crucial penalty kicks against Switzerland in the World Cup qualifiers.

The 29-year-old fluffed one penalty kick in each match against the Swiss and Italy failed to win their qualification group, so they have to get a spot for Qatar 2022 through the play-offs.

However, ‘Jorgi’ netted three penalties from three at a club level since the November break, including two against Leeds United yesterday.

Jorginho sent the first spot-kick to the top corner on his left but changed direction for the second one.

The Italian star spoke to Chelsea TV after the match but refused to go into details about what he thought before taking the last penalty during the stoppages.

“I can’t answer that,” he said, smiling.

“I just clear my head, but I can’t say it to you, leave me alone about penalties.

“I am happy, that’s passion, that’s football, that’s why we love this sport.”

The race for the title in Premier League is as open as in Serie A with two points separating three clubs: Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.

“It’s amazing. Who loves football is enjoying it, that’s important,” Jorginho concluded.
