Jorginho apologises for Italy’s elimination from the World Cup qualifiers – “I’m so sorry for how it went”.

The Napoli man made his official debut for the Azzurri last night, having been called-up by CT Giampiero Ventura for the first time for the play-off against Sweden.

However, a 0-0 draw saw the Swedes advance to the World Cup on aggregate, and the midfielder reflected on the game on his Instagram account.

“I honestly don’t even know what to write,” Jorginho began.

“All I know is that I’m just so sorry for how it went, Italy didn’t deserve all of this. I would have liked to celebrate my first official match with the national team, unfortunately that wasn’t possible and I’m very disappointed by that.

“We go on though, and we have to think that we tried everything, to the end, with all of our hearts.”
