Jorginho will start for Chelsea in tonight’s Champions League Final, but very nearly made the move to Manchester City until Napoli pulled the plug.

The Brazil-born Italy international followed coach Maurizio Sarri to Stamford Bridge for €57m plus bonuses in 2018.

It was almost a very different scenario, because Pep Guardiola had wanted Jorginho and negotiations were practically concluded for a €50m deal.

However, with Sarri heading to Chelsea and Napoli refusing to release their coach from his contract without some reimbursement, the plans changed.

Chelsea essentially struck an agreement with President Aurelio De Laurentiis for a package deal with Jorginho and Sarri presented on the same day.

To this day, report Mediaset Premium, Manchester City feel aggrieved by Napoli’s turnaround and believe the club pressured Jorginho into changing his mind too.
