Napoli midfielder Jorginho’s agent declares “I expect him to be called-up” for Italy.

The 23-year-old was born in Brazil, but grew up in Italy and has represented the Azzurri at youth levels, as well as making it clear he’d like to play for the senior team.

“For the [Napoli] Coach [Maurizio Sarri] it’s better if a player isn’t called, because he has more time to train,” Joao Santos explained to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“He has the chance to go to the Italian national team too, and I expect him to be called-up.

“Jorginho is at Napoli, and if they win the Scudetto the Italian Press will give more column inches to these players. It’s natural that the national media gives more attention to the team which wins the Scudetto.”

Santos also gave an update on his client’s contract situation, hinting that a renewal could be close.

“I’ve been to Castelvolturno and met with the directors, to see what they think about the future. There’s optimism.

“We’re doing well, and Napoli can aspire to great objectives in the Europa League as well as the League.”
