Italy international Jorginho is only under contract with Arsenal until June 30 and his agent discussed a possible return to Serie A. ‘He’d suit Lazio more, but I won’t rule out Juventus, Napoli, Milan or Inter, whereas Roma seem unlikely.’
The midfielder recently turned 32 and there is an option to extend his contract with the Gunners, but also no guarantee that it will be activated.
He has been in the Premier League since the summer of 2018, when he followed Maurizio Sarri from Napoli to Chelsea in a deal worth €57m, then on to Arsenal in January 2023 for €11.3m.
A return to Serie A is therefore on the cards this summer and his agent discussed the various options, including a potential reunion with Sarri.
“He’d suit Lazio more, for the presence of coach Sarri who already knows his characteristics very well, but also Juve who have a great director of sport like Cristiano Giuntoli, who he spent many years with at Napoli,” Joao Santos told TV Play in Italy.
“I would not rule out a return to Napoli with new coach Calzona, who used to work with Sarri before that.”
Calzona was appointed last week as Napoli’s third tactician of the campaign and had already worked for the club as an assistant manager to Sarri and Luciano Spalletti.
There are other alternative destinations in Italy open to Jorginho, especially if he was to be a free agent bringing experience to the midfield.
“I don’t think Roma would be likely, because there has never been any contact with them, but when it comes to their strength and tradition, everyone would love to play for Milan and Inter,” concluded Jorginho’s representative.
