There are growing reports on José Mourinho’s appointment as Portugal’s boss and according to Il Corriere Dello Sport, the coach’s agent Jorge Mendes opened talks with the Portuguese Federation on Thursday.

Portugal have sacked Fernando Santos who reached the World Cup quarter-finals in Qatar and according to several reports, Mourinho is the leading candidate to replace him.

According to Il Corriere Dello Sport, the Special One’s agent Jorge Mendes held a first meeting with the President of the Portuguese Federation Fernando Gomes on Thursday, discussing the potential salary of his client.

Nevertheless, according to the report, staying at Roma remains Mourinho’s priority. His contract at the Stadio Olimpico expires in June 2024.
