Jorge Mendes believes his client Cristiano Ronaldo should win the Ballon d’Or and ‘ has never deserved it as much as this year.’

The former Juventus striker has naturally been included among the best 30 players of the year by France Football.

However, despite having already won five Ballon d’Or during his career, Ronaldo doesn’t seem to be among the leading candidates to win the title this year.

Leo Messi and Italy and Chelsea star Jorginho seem to be the favourites, given their achievement with their national teams.

Messi won the Copa America with Argentina and Jorginho triumphed at the Euros with Italy.

The Italian also lifted the Champions League with Chelsea, becoming champions of Europe for club and country.

Regardless, Mendes believes it is Ronaldo who should be named best player of the year.

Why Jorginho deserves the Ballon d’Or more than Messi

“The Ballon d’Or has only one name, Cristiano Ronaldo,” he told France Football.

“He has never deserved it as much as this year. Top scorer in Serie A and at the Euros. He holds the record for goals in Champions League and is the only one who has won everything in three different countries.”

Ronaldo was Serie A’s Capocannoniere last season and won the Coppa Italia, although Juventus managed a narrow top-four finish in the final game of the season.

“He is the best scorer in the history of football. It is a decisive thing, it must be so for the trophy, because he continues to prove to be the best player in history,” Mendes concluded.

  1. Because he wears an extra small jersey is why he should be voted the best. He gets it special made from the boys sizes.

  2. Is this guy serious he should go back to where he came from and stick his head with mouth along with ronaldo u know where. Ronaldo didnt even deserve the one he has it should be a golden hankerchief at best.
