Jony Rodriguez is likely to miss Lazio’s Serie A opener against Sampdoria on Sunday as he is still waiting for his transfer to be cleared.

Jony joined Lazio from Malaga last month and has been a regular performer for the Aquile during preseason.

However, the Spanish side have made it clear that they will not accept just €2m to sign off the transaction and are instead demanding €12m.

Calciomercato.com and Cittaceleste both report the winger was allowed to leave unilaterally, although whereas the former states the capital club offered €2m, the latter writes they have brought him in on loan with the option of a free transfer.

In the meantime, FIFA is expected to give its green light to the move but not until next week, leaving the 28-year-old a major doubt for this weekend.

Instead, he could make his official debut during the Derby della Capitale with Roma on September 1.
