Inter’s Jonathan says he owes Nerazzurri Coach Walter Mazzarri a lot for the faith he has shown in him.

The former Napoli tactician has brought the Brazilian into the first team picture since taking the reins at San Siro.

The 28-year-old also relived a goal he scored against Roma in the Coppa Italia semi-finals, exactly one year ago today since it happened.

“It brought great emotion,” Jonathan recounted to reporters. “I knew then that scoring a goal would show the Inter fans exactly what the real Jonathan is all about.

“It was an important match against a tough rival like Roma.

“I still remember everything perfectly. It’s now a year since that goal and I feel good remembering it.

“I owe a lot to the boss. He has shown faith in me and he lets me play my football.

“I always need to mark the right man defensively, but then I also have the freedom to go forward and create assists or get goals myself.”
