Cagliari forward Joao Pedro has matched Luis Oliveria in second place of the Casteddu’s all-time leading goalscorers in Serie A.
Only Gigi Riva with 155 goals in the top flight sits above the two, as Joao Pedro entered the history books with his 45th Serie A goal in the 4-2 win over Crotone at the Sardegna Arena yesterday.

“I didn’t expect to reach such important numbers,” Joao Pedro told Videolina. “This milestone brings me up there with players who have been true idols of the fans and have written the history of the club.
“I have always tried to do my best and it’s hugely satisfying to be up there with them today.”
Eusebio Di Francesco’s men started the season with one point from three games but have bounced back with back-to-back wins against Torino and Crotone.
This week the Rossoblu prepare to face Cremonese in the Coppa Italia, before visiting Bologna on Saturday.
“In the first three rounds [against Sassuolo, Lazio and Atalanta] we faced teams that had distinguished themselves for the quality of play last term,” Joao Pedro added.
“We had little time to work and the coach is asking a lot from a tactical point of view. We are on the right path, we will work hard to improve further.
“I feel comfortable in the new position. The coach helps me a lot, he’s on me, he expects a lot from me, and this makes me happy.
“I’m closer to the goal and I feel I can make myself more useful to the team. We are winning the games, it’s the only thing that matters.”
