Costa Rica have beaten Japan at the World Cup, 3,082 after their famous victory against Italy at Brazil 2014.

Luis Suarez’s men have shocked Japan securing an unexpected 1-0 win days after their 7-0 loss against Spain earlier this week.

It is their sixth victory in the competition since Italia 90, the first one in eight years. The last time they had won a match in the competition was against Cesare Prandelli’s Italy at Brazil 2014, more than 3,000 days ago.

The Azzurri suffered a 1-0 loss in their second group-stage game in Brazil and were eventually eliminated following a second defeat to Uruguay.

Italy did not qualify for Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022, missing the World Cup for the second time in a row for the first time in history.

They haven’t played a knock-out game in the competition since 2006 when Marcello Lippi’s side lifted the World Cup in Germany.

  1. Of course they did now Germany is safe. How predictable . They get smashed 7-0 and somehow win next game. So fixed . Now Germany will surely beat Spain or tie them
