The Czech Republic international, who spent over a decade in Serie A and made over 250 appearances in the Italian top Division, has called time on his career in light of ongoing injury problems.

Having left Milan last summer after six years at San Siro, the left-sided player returned to his first club Banik Ostrava. However, the player suffered a knee injury in his first appearance for the club in October and has now stepped away from the game due to the recurring nature of the injury.

“Stopping is painful,” reflected Jankulovski in confirming the news on Monday. “But I am still happy with what I was able to do.”

Jankulovski won four major honours with Milan, represented his country at three European Championships and a World Cup and was named Czech Player of the Year in 2008.
