Former Arsenal star Jack Wilshere is training with newly-promoted Serie B side Como, but cannot register with them because he’s a non-EU player.
The 29-year-old is a free agent after he was released by Bournemouth in July, having seen his career go off the rails due to a series of injury problems.
He had already spent six months without a contract when let go by West Ham United.
According to Italian reports, Wilshere was invited to train with Como this summer due to some mutual acquaintances at the club.
Como have just been promoted to Serie B, Italy’s version of the Championship, from Serie C1.
However, he cannot sign for them because following Brexit, the England international is a non-EU player.
Serie B clubs are not allowed to sign any non-EU player who wasn’t already working in Italy.
Wilshere managed to pick up 34 senior caps for England over the years, with two goals to his name.
