Genoa defender Armando Izzo is set to join Torino, who have beaten off competition from Sassuolo.

The 26-year-old has received a call-up to the Italy squad – though without playing – and was previously a key part of the Grifone backline.

However, in April 2016 he was given an 18-month ban for failing to report match fixing – something he’s always denied.

That was later reduced to six months, but Izzo struggled to regain his place in Genoa’s side.

Now multiple sources including Sky Italia, Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport are reporting that a deal is done with Torino.

The Granata will pay around €10m for the defender, who has already agreed terms on a contract.
