British broadcaster ITV has announced that some Serie A matches from now until the end of the season will be free to air online.

The Italian topflight has started to regain popularity over the last few years, with the changing landscape of Scudetto holders helping to renew interest from abroad. Four different teams have won the last four Scudetti – Napoli, Milan, Inter and Juventus.

Serie A sides have also started to regain strength internationally, putting together better campaigns in the Champions League and Europa League. Inter reached the final of the former last season, whilst Roma reached the final of the latter. Fiorentina also had the chance to win the Conference League but fell to West Ham.

  1. Aw my. One of the games will be tight, and we’ll then see the English resorting to the old cliched nonsense of ‘defensive’ Italian football. This despite so many teams in the prem parking the bus whenever they come across a remotely decent side – spurs vs west ham was a bore fest and the man city vs arsenal game was even worse. But give them one edgy and tight serie a game, and the stereotyping and lazy nonsense will come to the fore at the first moment of asking. sigh.
