Inter loanee Sebastiano Esposito has had a slow start to life with Anderlecht, something his coach Felice Mazzù highlighted to the press.

The 20-year-old Italian forward joined the Belgian side on a loan deal with a buy option attached last month, ready to shine after a positive loan spell with FC Basel. Esposito has not made the best impression on his new fans, however, failing to contribute to a goal in his first five appearances and making a number of minor errors.

The Inter loanee looks particularly disappointing when compared to his fellow new arrival Fabio Silva, who has scored four goals and provided one assist in his five games following his arrival from Wolves.

Mazzù discussed Esposito’s slow start in a press conference, suggesting that he needs a little more time to adapt.

“It’s tough for him. But he is working hard and we will be there to help and support him. There are different players like Fabio who don’t need time to adapt and perform.

“For some like Sebastian it takes longer, it doesn’t mean anything.”

Last season whilst on loan with FC Basel, Esposito scored seven goals and provided nine assists in 34 appearances across all competitions. Interestingly, he scored in four of his first five league games with the Swiss side.
