Italian sports papers analyse Antonio Conte’s future at Tottenham and Il Corriere dello Sport says ‘it’s inevitable’ to see the Italian tactician leave North London at the end of the season.

“Conte’s Tottenham spell is heading towards its end. It’s the inevitable outcome of a relationship endured without much enthusiasm amid threats and misunderstandings since the first weeks,” wrote Gabriele Marcotti in Friday’s edition of Il Corriere dello Sport.

“The Italian tactician has never seen entirely satisfied with his choice. Almost as if he had immediately regretted his decision to gamble on Tottenham. Perhaps, he had the illusion that owners would spend big money to bring the club to the top.”

Conte signed an 18-month deal in North London in November 2021 and led Spurs to a top-four finish last term. Results have been way too inconsistent this season with Spurs already out of the Champions League and the two domestic cups, but still in the race for a Champions League placement.

Tuttosport also confirms Conte is on his way out of Tottenham and reports Richarlison’s explosive claims against the Italian tactician after a 0-0 draw against Milan on Wednesday night.

“There is a short-circuit in North London which Conte’s potential return to Italy could broaden given that the coach is disappointed by another failure and the possible departure of Harry Kane to Old Trafford,” wrote the Turin-based paper.

According to The Times, Inter are considering the return of their former coach and have already approached the ex-Italy and Juventus midfielder.

Conte said after Wednesday’s Champions League elimination at the hands of Milan that Tottenham could sack him before the end of the season, but neither Italian papers mention this option, predicting that Conte will leave at the end of his contract in June.

The 53-year-old has won four Serie A titles as a coach in his career, three for Juventus and one for Inter. He hasn’t lifted any piece of silverware in North London winning 40 of his 74 games in charge of Spurs.
