The FIGC’s new commissioner has confirmed that ex-Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta is already working on appointing Italy’s next CT.

Roberto Fabbricini was named commissioner of the FIGC after its failure to elect a new President last weekend, and Antonio Conte, Carlo Ancelotti, Roberto Mancini and Claudio Ranieri have already been put forward as candidates to coach the new-look Azzurri.

“We immediately invested in Costacurta [pictured], who will choose the new CT, a charismatic Coach who knows our football, and the names you’ve read all come under this description,” he told Radio Crc.

“I chatted with him ladt night, and I think I can say that today he has already started making contact over the phone, also taking advantage of the fact that Mancini is in Rome, so they may have got in touch last night.

“New CT in time for next month’s friendlies? We must respect everyone first. After that, I’ll hear from Di Biagio, so only then will I be able to give a better answer.”
