It is now confirmed Italy and Argentina will play at Wembley Stadium on June 1, as winners of the European Championship and Copa America.

This one-off tournament is considered a Supercup of sorts between the two biggest continental competitions in the world.

Italy beat England at Wembley Stadium on penalties last summer to win UEFA EURO 2020.

Argentina saw off Brazil 1-0 in the Final of the Copa America and were crowned the champions of South America for the first time in 28 years.

It was previously said it would be played at some stage in June in London, but the precise venue and date were not yet official.

This is not the first time such a clash has been scheduled, as it also happened in 1985 and 1993, when it was called the Artemio Franchi Trophy, or the European/South American Nations Cup.

It was revived this year as part of a renewed understanding between UEFA and CONMEBOL.
