The latest reports in Italy claim Roberto Mancini should switch to a 3-5-2 system against England tonight, with West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca replacing Ciro Immobile up front.
The Lazio star was not included in the team for tonight’s Nations League Group C showdown between the Azzurri and the Three Lions due to a muscle injury.
This morning’s papers suggested Mancini would still use a 4-3-3 system, but Immobile’s injury has changed the scenario, so the CT is expected to make some tactical adjustments.
West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca is the favourite to replace Immobile, with Mancini likely to go for a 3-5-2 formation. The CT has a few doubts in defence and midfield.
According to Gazzetta, Alessandro Bastoni is favourite over Francesco Acerbi in defence, while Emerson Palmieri should get the nod on the left flank. The other candidate for the role is Federico Dimarco.
The Azzurri had to deal with several injuries before and during the current international break.
Aside from Federico Chiesa, Domenico Berardi, Alessandro Florenzi and Lorenzo Insigne, Mancini had to scrap Marco Verratti, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Matteo Politano and Sandro Tonali.
