Although Italy named their final EURO 2024 squad today, there is still time until June 20 to make changes, as Ivan Provedel is on stand-by with Alex Meret struggling.

Luciano Spalletti announced his list for the tournament this afternoon and cut three players from the remaining squad at the Coverciano training ground.

They are Lazio goalkeeper Provedel, Torino midfielder Samuele Ricci and Bologna winger Riccardo Orsolini.

However, there is still time to make changes before the Azzurri begin their tournament against Albania on June 15.

According to the current EURO 2024 rules, teams have until midnight before their second game to substitute a goalkeeper if he has a confirmed medical problem, concluded with tests from the UEFA commission.

Italy waiting on Meret issue

Napoli goalkeeper Meret suffered a muscular issue during the warm-up for yesterday’s game against the Under-20 squad and it is not serious, but still something to keep an eye on.

This is a contraction of the flexor in the left leg and Meret has suffered from injury problems already this season.

Lazio goalkeeper Provedel therefore remains on alert and will continue training with his club staff, just in case he needs to be added to the Italy group.

It would be as third goalkeeper behind Gianluigi Donnarumma and Guglielmo Vicario.
