The Azzurri held a training session behind closed doors at Collechio this morning where they tried out what could be their starting XI for Wednesday’s game.
According to reports, Prandelli is thinking of abandoning his trademark 4-3-1-2 in favour of a 4-3-3 formation.
Gigi Buffon is being tipped to start in goal behind a defence consisting of Christian Maggio, Andrea Barzagli, Giorgio Chiellini and Federico Balzaretti.
The midfield three could contain Riccardo Montolivo, Paris Saint-Germain youngster Marco Verratti and Claudio Marchisio.
Stephan El Shaarawy and Mario Balotelli may be joined in attack by Antonio Candreva – although he has the ability to drop into a deeper position given that he usually plays in midfield for Lazio.
