Sky Sport Italia claim the new tactic was experimented in today’s training session.

Graziano Pellè was at the centre flanked by Eder and Antonio Candreva, but Federico Bernardeschi is also an option to start after his first senior Italy call.

As was reported this morning, the Azzurri are indeed adopting different approaches in the build-up to Euro 2016.

Sky Sport Italia claim the new tactic was experimented in today’s training session.

Graziano Pellè was at the centre flanked by Eder and Antonio Candreva, but Federico Bernardeschi is also an option to start after his first senior Italy call.

Following injuries for Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli, we could see Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian used in central defence.

Darmian was tested there today, while on the other side Andrea Ranocchia, Daniele Rugani and Davide Astori completed the back three.

Thiago Motta and Jorginho are fighting for a single spot in midfield, as Marco Verratti is injured and Andrea Pirlo left out due to MLS duty.

Alessandro Florenzi and Luca Antonelli were tested as wingers first, then Lorenzo De Silvestri and Emanuele Giaccherini.

Gigi Buffon remains in doubt to feature against Spain, as he has been suffering from flu symptoms.

Italy (probable): Buffon; Darmian, Bonucci, Acerbi; Florenzi, Jorginho, Montolivo, Antonelli; Candreva, Pellè, Eder
