Italy Under-21 international Cesare Casadei has made the perfect debut for Leicester City, scoring the winner just days after his loan move from Chelsea.

The midfielder found the back of the net from close range, in the right place to meet the assist from Jamie Vardy.

He had only just come off the bench for his first appearance under coach Enzo Maresca and sealed the winner in a 2-1 result against Cardiff City.

It confirmed his ability to make strong runs from midfield, as he has eight goals in nine caps for Italy at Under-20 level.

He was named Player of the Tournament as well as top scorer in the Under-20 World Cup over the summer.

Growing up in the Inter youth academy, Casadei was sold to Chelsea in August 2022 for €15m plus another €5m in performance-related bonuses.

He spent the last six months on loan at Reading and returned to the Championship to get regular playing time with Leicester City.
