Leo Messi has won the seventh Ballon d’Or in his career, while Jorginho was ranked 3rd and Gigio Donnarumma was named the best goalkeeper of the year.
Messi won the award ahead of Robert Lewandowski and Jorginho who was ranked third after becoming champion of Europe for club and country in 2021.
“It’s been an amazing year, I am really happy and proud of myself and the whole team, both teams. The national team and Chelsea,” Jorginho said from London.
“We made an incredible job and I am really grateful.”
He didn’t travel to Paris because of travel restrictions in the UK. Chelsea were named the best club of the year.
Gigio Donnarumma was ranked 10th and named the best goalkeeper for 2021.
“It was an incredible season for me, starting from the return to the Champions League with Milan and the European championship,” the former Milan goalkeeper said.
“We gave joy to all the Italians and to ourselves, I am still speechless. Then I joined PSG and I am really proud.”
The 30-man shortlist featured three more Italian players, Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Nicolò Barella who ended 13th, 14th and 26th respectively, while Serie A stars Lautaro Martinez and Simon Kjaer were ranked 21st and 18th respectively.

Fifa and friends kissing ass to Messi again. Lewndowski and Jorginho both deserve it more. Since FIFA took BALLON D’OR under it, it became a reflection of their corruption
For what it’s worth, half of that top ten play in the PL and three of the top ten play for Paris.
Barella should be higher up this list, he had an outstanding season
Salah deserved to be much higher.
In a year in which Messi finally won that elusive international title, he was always going to win the ballon d’or. And quite frankly, it is difficult to argue with the numbers. directly contributed to 7 goals in only 11 games for PSG, 4 goals and 5 assists in the copa america and for barcelona, he scored 38 goals and contributed 14 assists in only 47 games.
If Lewandowski had won, no one would complain. His goalscoring record for club and country has been nothing short of phenomenal. He should’ve won it when Bayern munich won the champions league.
This has become a useless award. The da
E players continue to win and many deserving players are not even given a chance. Lewandoski was the true winner. Enough with this Messi worship. He is no Maradona or Omar Sivori for that reason.
Lewandoski for sure deserved it more than Messi…just look at his past two seasons records, and what about Ronaldo…with all the records that he has broken surely he deserves more respect, let the fans decide the winner in the future of this Competition, after all we pay the price to keep them in the job!
