President Carlo Tavecchio says the FIGC will still back Michel Platini for the FIFA Presidency.

The head of the Italian federation has already thrown his support behind the UEFA President, but the former Juventus midfielder has been suspended by FIFA for 90 days as he faces a corruption investigation.

“Italy was among the 49 federations who have backed him [Platini] as a candidate to succeed Blatter,” Tavecchio told reporters.

“That remains the position, but let’s see what Platini says to the [UEFA] assembly.”

Tavecchio also reaffirmed his faith in Azzurri CT Antonio Conte, and hopes he will stay on after Euro 2016.

“I hope he’ll stay even after 2016. It’s his choice, but if he stays we’ll be very happy.”
