The competition will take place in Brazil and will act as a dress-rehearsal for the 2014 World Cup Finals.

However, the Italian Football Federation may opt to reject the invitation to the 2013 tournament which would see Portugal or Germany asked to compete.

As it stands, Brazil, Spain, Japan, Mexico, Uruguay, Tahiti and Italy have qualified. They will be joined by the 2013 African Cup of Nations winner.

Italy took part in the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa, but they didn’t get out of their group after beating USA, but losing to Egypt and Brazil.
