Italy drew 0-0 with Turkey in the first friendly in preparation for Euro 2024. Here are the player ratings from the Stadio Dall’Ara in Bologna.

Italy Player Ratings vs. Turkey

Vicario 6.5 – Ange will be proud of Venom’s header, in the first half, miles away from the penalty area. It wasn’t exactly nice to see, but at least it was efficient. Key save in the second half.

Di Lorenzo 6 – A little shaky in the first half. More confident after the break.

Mancini 6 – Building up from the back is not his bread and butter. He could have done more there, but he was pretty solid defensively. Booked in the final seconds for a foul on Yildiz.

Bastoni 6 – An added playmaker, his cross-field passes helped Italy create numerical advantage at times, but not often enough.

Dimarco 6.5 – Some quality crosses. Italy created the best chances – still not many – from the left and through his left foot. (85′ Calafiori N/A)

Jorginho 6 – Captained the Azzurri for the second time in his career. He often gave advice to his teammates, especially the less experienced. 95% passing accuracy (62′ Fagioli 5.5).

Cristante 6 – Had the best chance of the game with a tricky header just before the break, when he hit the woodwork. Composed performance.

Orsolini 5 – The Bologna star received a warm welcome from his fans at the Dall’Ara, but wasn’t as effective as under Motta. Replaced during the break. (46′ Cambiaso 6)

Pellegrini 5.5 – He struggled to find space in the final third and tried to link up attack and midfield, but he was rarely successful. A dangerous free kick in the first half. Picked up a knock in his knee and was subbed off in the second half. (68′ Frattesi 5.5)

Chiesa 5 – On paper, he’s Italy’s most dangerous outfield player alongside Scamacca. Nevertheless, the Juventus winger was never really a threat. He could have been given more time, but Spalletti wants to balance everybody’s playing time until he names the final 26-man squad. (46′ Zaccagni 5)

Retegui 5.5 – Did the dirty work and tried to score with a perfectly executed bicycle kick, but he sent the ball over the crossbar. (68′ Raspadori 6)

Coach: Spalletti 5.5—It’s definitely not the final version of Italy. A few key players were missing, so we shouldn’t be panicking. The biggest problem was that the Azzurri moved the ball too slowly. However, they created the best chances thanks to high pressing, which is a good sign. There is one more friendly at Coverciano tomorrow, against Italy U20, and then the CT will name the final 26-man squad on Thursday.
