The Italy national team social media account enjoyed Gianluigi Donnarumma’s heroics during the penalty shoot-out between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night, taking an opportunity to mock the England national team with the message ‘some things never change’.
PSG qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals after a penalty shoot-out victory over six-time winners Liverpool, largely thanks to Italy no.1 Donnarumma, who kept out both Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones from 12 yards.

Donnarumma was, of course, the penalty shoot out hero for Italy when the Azzurri beat England at Wembley to win EURO 2020 in the summer of 2021.
Italy mock England and Liverpool after Donnarumma heroics
Pointing to Donnarumma’s continued success in penalty shoot-outs, and also aiming a subtle dig at the England national team, the official Azzurri social media account sent the following message in English: “Some things never change”, along with a picture of Donnarumma from the EURO 2020 final.

Bravo, Donnarumma. I watched penalties.
Gigio always steps up to put overly hyped English tinpots back in their box. excellent psg. thoroughly deserved win.
Ah typical Italian press or admins. Anything to cheer on as long as they have something to do with italians, yet zero to do with Italian clubs.
Imagine the Italy captain being decisive in a big Champions League game and write nothing about it…
