Italy legends Roberto Baggio and Roberto Mancini honoured the late Sven-Goran Eriksson on Instagram: ‘Farewell Sven, thanks for everything.’
Eriksson died on Monday, August 26, 2024, of pancreatic cancer. He was one of the most influential coaches in Serie A’s history.
Not only did he win a historical Serie A title and many other trophies with Lazio, but he also lifted silverware at Samp and Roma.
Eriksson coached some of the best Italian and Serie A players of all time, including Baggio and Mancini.
The latter was the player with the most appearances under Eriksson and, at the end of his playing career, became Sven’s assistant coach at Lazio.
Baggio worked with Eriksson at Fiorentina.
Both Italian legends honoured Eriksson on social media on Monday.
Il Divin Codino posted a picture of his time at Fiorentina with the Swedish tactician, while Mancini shared a picture from his time as Eriksson’s assistant at Lazio.
“Goodbye, Mister, you were an extraordinary coach and a marvellous man,” wrote the ex-Italy boss.
