Italy trained in a 3-5-2 shape under Antonio Conte today, with a strike-force of Ciro Immobile and Sebastian Giovinco likely.

The Azzurri are into a second day of training at Coverciano under their new CT, ahead of a friendly this Thursday in Bari against the Netherlands, and the start of Euro 2016 qualifying next Tuesday in Oslo against Norway.

For the morning session, the group was joined by late call-up Fabio Quagliarella, whilst Giorgio Chiellini retired during the workout in discomfort.

Work included tactical training in Conte’s preferred 3-5-2 system, with various players, but indications are coming through on the preferred line-up for Thursday.

Gigi Buffon looks set to start behind a back three of Andrea Ranocchia, Leonardo Bonucci and Davide Astori.

Midfield is likely to see Antonio Candreva or Matteo Darmian on one wing and Mattia De Sciglio on the other, with Marco Parolo, Daniele De Rossi and Claudio Marchisio in the middle.

With Mario Balotelli and Giuseppe Rossi absent from this squad, the front-line to face the Dutch looks set to be Ciro Immobile and Sebastian Giovinco.
