Mirko Valdifiori acknowledges he will only return to the Italy squad if he shows good form for Napoli.
The 29-year-old won his first cap in the friendly against England in March, but was not included for the latest round of Euro 2016 qualifiers, which saw the Azzurri confirm their place in France.
“Making your debut in the national team was an unforgettable moment,” Valdifiori recalled in an interview with Sky.
“Future call-ups are dependent on the work I do every day with Napoli, so I have to focus on that.

“I congratulate the Azzurri squad because they’ve achieved an extraordinary result, but I had doubt they would succeed.
“With [CT Antonio] Conte you work hard, but when you get the results it’s nice work.”
Valdifiori only joined the Vesuviani this summer from Empoli, and says he is settling in well in Naples.
“I’ve always had a good relationship with the fans. In Naples, the people are very warm, they make you feel their affection even when you’re going to the supermarket or walking the streets.
“Since I’ve been here I’ve realised how important the fans are in the stadium.
“There are great players here at Napoli, coming to Castelvolturno had a certain effect. They put me at ease immediately and helped me to blend in with the champions.
“My idols? When I was little [Juan Sebastian] Veron, since I’ve been playing it’s [Andrea] Pirlo who is my model, he plays in my role and he’s the best regista in the world.”
