Gianluigi Donnarumma ended the Nations League match against Germany in agony after hurting his left hand, but should remain on international duty with Italy.

The shot-stopper fingertipped a corner off the head of Antonio Rudiger deep into stoppages to secure the 1-1 final result at the Stadio Dall’Ara in Bologna.

At the final whistle, Donnarumma fell to the ground in visible pain and calling for medical assistance from the Italy staff.

He also seemed very irritated at someone for the incident, and went off eventually with some strapping on his left hand and wrist.

Coach Roberto Mancini was asked about the situation in his post-match press conference.

“Donnarumma has a problem with his finger. He’s got nine left, so he has to remain with the squad and play,” joked the CT.

The Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper made a series of saves to earn Italy a precious point in the Nations League opener, denying Serge Gnabry, Ilkay Gundogan and Joshua Kimmich, but could do little on the goal from Kimmich, the follow-up from a blocked effort.
